 Jason Mlynek is currently pursuing an undergraduate in music composition at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His primary interest lies in stage music, with hopes of tackling the operatic genre in the near future. Nearly all of his compositional studies have been under Dr. Jody Nagel at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Jason recognizes Dr. Nagel as not only a wonderful mentor, but also as a master of his craft. Jason is quickly amassing a respectable portfolio of works including a co-written operetta, several choral pieces, 17 art songs, and a growing number of instrumental chamber pieces. His song cycle "Songs of the Immortal" was selected for performance at the SCI Region V conference in Dubuque, Iowa in February 2007.
