Philosophy

Idealism: The belief that ultimate reality is simply that of the ideas of the mind. "Reality" is therefore just a mental illusion. It is usually a component of some religion.

Realism: The belief that ultimate reality is concrete and independent of the ideas of the mind.

Politics

Realism: A tendency to support the status quo, with the implied notion that it is almost impossible to create a better human situation on the Earth.

Idealism: The belief that man's situation on this Earth can be whatever he wills it to be.

It is QUITE POSSIBLE to be both a philosophical REALIST,
and a political IDEALIST.

This is the stand of true HUMANISM.

All else is immoral.
