Theists begin with the unprovable, the unknown, and the unknowable (i.e., "god"), and use that to attempt to explain what is known and perfectly obvious.
Scientists begin with what is known and perfectly obvious, and use that to attempt to extrapolate into the unknown and otherwise unknowable.
